What Exactly is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing a website so that it performs better in search engines. 80% of all online purchases start from a Search Engine, and 95% of all clicks on a search engine come from the first five spots on the first page. The more visible a website is the more traffic it will receive and the more visitors it is likely to have, which in-turn means more money. Search Engine Optimization creates that visibility, making it more likely that a search engine rank a website higher, and increasing the chances that that website will have visitors, and increasing the frequency of those visits.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) utilizes several techniques in order to optimize the presence of a website in an online search engine. Optimizing web presence requires the proper use of several techniques all working together in order to create the best online presence of a website possible. Adding specific keywords in the best possible places, as well as editing content, HTML, and gaining social signals and creating backlinks, a link from one site to another which to a search engine is seen as a promotion, are techniques used to remove the barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Removing those barriers increases the visibility of a website using a search engine’s ‘natural’ or ‘unpaid’ search results, and increasing that visibility increases traffic to the website.
